quoting note108w…9q78Well first you start with the design you want to needlepoint - I just took ltngstore (npub1eeq…at9s) ‘s popular t-shirt design - and create a pattern for stitching it (think pixel art) within your desired size (8.5x11 inches) for whatever canvas pt you plan to use. I’m pretty sure this one was 13pt mono canvas - basically 13 stitches per inch.
Next pick out your yarn colors and stitch your design! I used the most common stitch for the yellow - a diagonal from bottom left to top right / and then a different type of stitch for the background.
After completing the needlepoint part, I got a board and a backing fabric and sewed it together to put in the bottom of my acrylic tray that is specifically made for needlepoint art!
Most commonly with needlepoint you purchase a canvas with a design painted on it, and then just stitch like paint by numbers, and then send it off to a ‘finisher’ to finish it into an ornament, pillow, belt, etc etc for you.
