When did it become acceptable for news to be based on ......
"People familiar with the matter, but asking not to be identified"
When it comes to hills I am willing to die on, either you engage with media outlets in good faith, provide information you have and agrees to full attribution, or you just don't engage at all.
And the same goes for the media. If a source is unwilling to allow for full attribution, then the information they provide shouldn't be included. The information should even be viewed as suspect.
It is simple for me, and as someone who is quoted all the time.
Without attribution, then there is no accountability. That, to me, is just wholly unacceptable.
