Maybe the moral is that blood, not marriage, matters. Jon taking the black doesnt make Rhaegar not his father. He can still be the prince that was promised without being trueborn, he just needs to be a descendant of the right Targaryen.
Also "the seed is strong" might apply to Starks (over Targs) like it does Baratheons (over Lannisters).
