IMO just about the dumbest thing you can possibly do is to be bearish on open source. Sure, at the beginning, a proprietary system may well perform better and look better and whatever. But over time, open source will kill it every time. Take #IPv6 support in #Monero wallets, for example. I have been pushing very hard to get IPv6 included in all the mobile Monero wallets. Once that occurs, any fork that is done after that will have IPv6 support by default and not have to add it themselves.
