It's all cuttings. I don't know what it is about this specific one that makes it such a giant pain in the ass. I've cloned tons of fantasy flowered plants and none of them have been like this.

I received an African Violet called Regal Crest that apparently has similar instability as a gift, but the seller was kind enough to ensure that the plant actually had the correct patterning before selling it. (The person who gave it to me didn't know about any of that, it was a lucky coincidence)

The difference with the violet is that since I have one that's known to be the correct color/pattern, I can make copies of it from flower stems and they should come out right. I didn't have that luxury with the Strep so I have to cross my fingers that a mutable gene... mutates.
