The argument I often hear from proponents of inflation is that, “inflation isn’t bad so long as productivity through new deflationary technology grows.” That sounds smart because it is true that advancements in technology reduce costs and increase efficiency, leading to lower prices for consumers. But consumers aren’t seeing lower prices. These deflationary benefits are being overshadowed by an even greater monetary expansion. When you see an increase in prices, you see which side is winning.
