Wednesday we were set to leave at like 1 one or so. AA e-mails us at 9am to let us know that our flight was cancelled with no root cause "Don't worry. we'll e-mail you when *we're ready to do so*" was about all the e-mail said. No root cause for the cancellation.
Confused as hell, we try calling, we try checking outgoing flights from MBJ and everything is cancelled until Sunday.
We booked airfare through sandals, so... we go to the front desk and ask "what happun now?" and more or less they shrugged and said "it'll be 500 dollars to stay an additional night." and if you know anything about travel, hotel rates fluctuate on the weekend. so that 500 dollar rate would probably sky rocket. Since American Airlines went radio silent on us, we were assuming we'd end up stay another four nights. that would be approximately 2k that I really didn't plan for.
We made a decision to book another airline home that day. My wife had limited medication, our pets were at home, and honestly, neither of us were looking forward to having to rush home and have less than 5 hours sleep till work on Monday morning.
