There is no second best and any attempt to increase scalability will decrease security and decentralization

Zaps are great, crypto is amazing, but would love to see other crypto options which have better layer 1 scalability. Lightning increases centralization and gives up on some of the benefits we could have using a scalable layer one solution that Nexa and many other pow crypto currency projects offer.
