I would put the average social media user in one of two camps:

1) boomers who (thanks mostly to ad-supported models) think their monthly ISP payment entitles them to free access to anything that connects to the internet

2) more enlightened but still technically ignorant users who are accustomed to receiving and paying a subscription renewal for the services they use (ie. Dropbox, Proton, etc)

Nostr is still confusing for camp-2 folks like myself. Instead of just paying a subscription to X or Telegram, there are clients, relays and image hosts which all need financial support.

I just paid 120k sats to add time to filter.nostr.wine but Coracle's relay list still displays the red dot. Is it because Coracle doesn't support 'NIP-whatever-that-number-was' or did I miss a step somewhere?

Paying sats to a client that manages everything for you doesn't seem like it would help keep Nostr decentralized and censorship-resistant but at the same time, if we want people to replace legacy social with Nostr, it needs to be "so easy, a non-coder can use it."
