I think when it’s come to the unit account most wallet just the $€£¥. The term ecash is meant to distinguish the mechanism and properties of this money. For example, if I’m buying a beer at Pubkey. I may ask ask to pay with cash (physical paper money issued by a central bank) or ecash (Fedimint, Cashu, or other protocol).
If you’re using an ecash wallet, I agree it’s not needed to display $3.50 ecash. Just $3.50 works because it is understood that this money exists within the ecash ecosystem.
