In regards to J.K., that’s not true. Hell, I had no reason to follow her at that point, I’m a grown man and even though Harry Potter was good, I’m not going to follow the creator of it, just not my interest. And yet, it managed to reach me from numerous outlets. Not just twitter, facebook, instagram, messenger, etc.
Once one person that did follow her, posted something about it to his/her followers, it spread exponentially. The algorithm had nothing to do with it.
As far as the blue check, I don’t recall disagreeing, so I am not sure why you felt the need to reiterate that part. Yes, allowing check marks to be purchased, defeats the purpose of the check mark.
I don’t think anyone ever accused Elon of being all that bright to begin with. He didn’t earn anything he has and he didn’t invent anything he sells. He is essentially a glorified VC.
