And the patent for the European Patent Office is "not-in-force". So it's in a bit of a legal gray zone. Especially given the fact that Cannon originally made the XLR connector and probably only Neutrik's implementation of XLR is patented.

But most non-Neutrik connectors are only "Cannon compatible" and not "Neutrik compatible". But Neutrik's connector are compatible with Cannon connectors😉
