So my 4 year old grandson was out in our pool and as he's walking through some clover to the patio he steps on a bee. I was out watering and I saw him crying on the patio as my wife walked over.
I got to him first and asked him if he stepped on a bee. He said yes and I grabbed his foot and said "OK, remember, I've got to get the stinger out (not only to remove the 'pointy part', but also the stinger will keep pumping venom into the foot!) .
He replied 'I took it out already, I didn't want all the venom'.
I asked him, so are you OK? It was just upsetting and that's why you're crying? And he said 'Yea, the stinger didn't hurt but the bite did!'.
So a 4 year old kid kept his head about him through a high stress situation (and scary one as well) and he still managed to ACT and act properly to mitigate the problem as best he could.
These kids are my heroes, and getting to help figure it all out is one of life's great gifts!
