For example there are people working on ways to spread out cashu amongst many mints to decrease the risk of a single point of failure.

Also the privacy aspect of something like cashu means it can still be run outside the prevue of banks.

Having said that, it almost seems inevitable at this point that there will be banks established a cashu style custody of user funds, whether its current banks or new ones cropping up.
