Gardening is a good metaphor.
1) Someone makes a rough sketch of a tomato garden or simply plants one haphhazardly and scribbles up what he planted.
2) He writes "A Tomato Garden" across the top.
3) He submits this sketch to a group of other gardeners and suggests that everyone else can use his picture to plant their own tomatoes. Some do, and their resulting garden looks roughly like his. It at least contains tomatoes.
4) Someone used to producing pasta sauce on an industrial scale for canning and sale to the wider public, comes along and looks at the sketch and says, "How in the world am I supposed to use this? This doesn't contain the information I need to produce tomatoes! And, look, the tomatoes planted in the top-right corner are below a shade tree and will rot!"
5) Everyone else in the group just stares at him, in bewilderment, and says, "Dude, we all planted tomatoes just fine, using this sketch. What is your problem? Just take it, fix everything that is wrong in your own garden, add what is missing, and plant some tomatoes."
6) So he does that, comes back and says, "I did it completely differently in the end, but I also ended up with tomatoes."
7) Everyone else, "Welcome to the 🍅 club! 🥳We've since completely redone the sketch and we're all producing bell peppers, now, so it's actually a🫑club, but welcome anyway."
