* Large up-front investment provides service at a loss
* The service isn't new, but it probably circumvents normal regulations on a technicality
* The service undercuts already-existing businesses doing the same thing who close up shop
* Customers are locked in; regulatory capture follows
* They pull the rug out by jacking up prices or completely reneging on the initial promise of the service
* Life is worse for everyone
