Mário Sabino: “Brazilian Justice and its surroundings continue to cause daily astonishment. This time, it was not in Brasília, but in Minas Gerais, with a lecture from another world.
I don't know if you know, but there is a National School for the Training and Improvement of Magistrates, Enfam. An Enfam professor, a retired judge, recently invited a guy to speak to new judges at the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais in a class on “protection of the vulnerable, access to justice and anti-discrimination law”.
Anti-discrimination law, come on. The teacher’s guest introduces himself as a “survivor of the penitentiary system”. He was sentenced to 16 years and 5 months in prison in 1997 for a small matter: rape and murder of a 5-year-old child.
You would think that he was invited because he had suffered a great injustice. No, the guy actually committed the atrocity.
But, once released, he began giving lectures — including to magistrates, as it turns out. Oh yes, the guy was also arrested for racism. But that's okay: he has the mitigating factor of being a member of the Human Rights Commission of the OAB of Minas Gerais. That's what you put on your resume.
In the lecture, according to those who attended, the member (I think you can still call it that way) made fun of the Judiciary, attacked the police, defended penal abolitionism (that's news for this ignorant journalist) and, of course, the legalization of drugs, as expected.
The court that still has its senses was outraged. She called it “pure banditry juice” and recalled the ruling of the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (the court of judges obliged to attend the lecture), which confirmed the sentence in the first instance.
It's disgusting. According to the ruling, “the defendant's modus operandi consisted of punching the infant's head with something solid and, later, upon realizing that the victim was still alive, aiming to intensify the victim's suffering, he inserted something cylindrical into the victim's anus, causing internal hemorrhage due to injury to the mesentery, which was the efficient cause of death”.
Still according to the ruling, the element “perpetrated the homicide with the aim of hiding the libidinous acts other than the carnal union that he had just committed to the detriment of the victim, having, to satisfy his lust, bit her in different parts of the body, including the penis.”
The fact that the author of this monstrosity is free is an absurdity of the Brazilian penal system. The fact that he is invited to give a lecture to new judges, and as a “survivor of the penitentiary system”, is already sadistic perversity towards the family of the boy who was raped and murdered.
Five years. The boy was only 5 years old.”
