But before that, let’s for the next week or so take a trip down memory lane and go over last year’s tournament. No, not a match by match analysis (I already did that in 2023), but an overview of how each of the 32 contestants performed, relative to reasonable expectations. I’ll be starting with the bottom seed, and work my way all the way up to the #1 girl, while grading them on a scale from F to S: F = Flop, D = Disappointing, C = Competent, B = Better than expected, A = Almost amazing and S = Superlative. Bonus matches will also be counted, though context and vote totals will determine how much stock I’ll put in them. I’ll also be keeping in mind that some girls were obviously way overseeded, and also that Fedi is a peculiar sort of place. And with that out of the way, let’s begin with the bottom seed:
32nd Seed Yuri (Doki Doki Literature Club)

As the bottom seed of a tournament, you basically have two jobs: Avoid suffering the biggest blowout of the contest, and not be the single weakest participant. Yuri badly failed at her first task (no other girl was even brought below 30% in an actual tournament match), but that was only because the #1 Seed was in a league of her own. In terms of her overall strength, Yuri actually looks pretty decent for a bottom seed, being much stronger than Seele, and probably slightly stronger than a few other girls as well. For someone who’s probably not even the most popular girl from her own flavor on the month game, I’d say Yuri did okay.
