For context, one of my jobs is an EMS medical director where I work on the ambulance. A frequent area of friction in the last year is law enforcement officers being unwilling to interact with people having mental health crises, leaving me and my medics the option of entering unsafe scenes, or leaving the call without trying to help. Both options suck. Historically the problem was officers being overly agressive. Mental health is a tough, complex problem in emergency services.
