It would be so easy to quit sonic games entirely if there wasn't usually something redeemable or okay in most of the games.

Now whether that actually makes them worth playing is more up in the air which is a tremendous reason to not spend more than you feel like with any and all sonic games.

Take Sonic Rush, good ost, pretty replayable... But the games philosophy is that you must die like 5 times in every level to learn how you are supposed to play in each level as your first play through is just a guessing game. This is one I would consider to be redeemable enough to be play worthy.

I say with no exaggeration that there are a good number of games I consider to be not worth playing, one of the bigger ones are soft remakes that utilize or remake old game levels but act like a new game: mania, generations, etc. Milquetoast garbage that has none of the appeal or quality of the games they steal from.
