There's up to 10k public zaps on average daily. If everyone here were using a non custodial Zaplocker based lightning address, that's up to 20 channels worth of HTLCs locked up per hop since each channel allows a max of 483. 100 channels maxed out if 5 hops on average. That's 10 Bitcoin ($300k est) locked up to route low valued nostr payments assuming 10M sat channel on average. And if allowing up to 24 hours to hodl these payments, that is the upper bound for each day.
And that's not even accounting for v4v and other LN address payments.
We need async payments now before this gets out of hand and harms the network.
