This isn't some conspiracy theory. It's what's happening now in front of your eyes. This is something I know as well as I know myself. You can even see how much each politician was paid and when by a quick search.
What's hilarious is that the competition is has gotten so high that the bribes have become so low. You basically pay a few million dollars a year, and you have the USA with its #money and people at your disposal.
