Embracing and understanding womanhood may be the key to closing the wage gap. Well that, and getting everyone on board. Everyone meaning business and government working together. More effort needs to happen here in the U.S. for our women and girls. Girls who are missing school because of periods, women missing work due to motherhood. Mothers falling behind in their careers to nurture our next generations. Decades of nudging girls away from certain career paths leaves us with seasoned CEOs and high paid leadership roles....that are not women.
Understand she has a family, understand she is not focused at work when her little one is sick. But she is out of PTO....
What happens to generations of kids with less and less time with their parents? Less time with their mothers ? Less time with caregivers when they are sick?
I care about motherhood just as deeply as I care about women being able to provide for themselves.
If there are programs and policies in place right now, our leaders are doing a lousy job of getting that information out.
Businesses need to understand how they can afford to keep her through her pregnancy? How can they legally give her an additional two days time off ? How can our government support the business's spending the time and money to grow the women in their company?
If we don't make changes... our nations mothering will start to mimic Holsteins and Jerseys.
