Cashu is doing wonders for ecash innovation and research. A lot of their work gives inspiration to many teams, including ours.
That said, I have very little interest in any sort of deployed cashu instance and I think they should only exist for proof of concept experimentation. Which is how I think most people are using it, which is great. I just don't see it as thing that can nor should be used seriously. It's a step backwards and won't last long if it's used at all. That's why we will not be supporting it at Mutiny.
If you want to use ecash in a way that does have the chance to operationally exist with enough decentralization (IE, NO UNILATERAL CONTROL), fedimint is the best hope for that and I would encourage checking it out. It takes 5 minutes to install.
Some don't see the difference between the two projects but the difference is the most important aspect that is relevant to this day and age.
Death to centralization, pick the better path. You don't really have a choice, it's being made for you.
