My grandfather told me God talked to him.
This was literally the most profound thing. I was you young kid, didn’t really believe in prayer. One day someone showed up and asked my grandfather for some advice or help, I don’t know which. My grandfather said, “give me a moment to talk to my boss.” And he went into his bedroom. He was in there for a few minutes and then emerged and gave an answer to the person. When the person left, I asked my grandfather, who he had called. I knew he had a phone next to his bed. He looked at me with a puzzled expression and said, “No one.” I was befuddled. I said, I heard you tell that person you were going to talk to your boss, you went to your room where there is a phone, and then came out and gave an answer to the person. Who did you call?
My grandfather just smiled and said, “I didn’t call anyone, I talked to God.” I was still puzzled. I asked him, but who gave you the answer to give to that person? His smile didn’t falter. He said, “God told me, I heard his voice, not in my head, but as one person talks to another.”
That piece of information changed up my life forever!
The more I think about Nostr the more it blows my mind.

I can just say whatever crazy shit I want and there’s like no guardrails or mods—it’s just out there, and people will actually see it.

No one appreciates just how powerful this is, how important it is, monumental even.

It creates a totally new possibility for the social web, which is really something else entirely. It’s the possibility of a new world in which people own their data; their information. No longer to be exploited, or owned, people can really say whatever they want.

And that is truly extraordinary.
