Japan has stronger soft power compared to China.
Their manga/anime, video games, food and culture as a whole has been exported to the whole world non-stop.
Manga, anime and video games were the main motivations for me wanting to learn Japanese when I was in high school.
I also really wanted to go travelling in Japan to witness first hand what I’ve been consuming through a TV screen.
China as whole doesn’t have the most positive image in the eyes of the world. Which is mainly due to the government being authoritarian. But if you give China a chance, the people there are actually very hard working and super friendly to foreigners.
It’s kind of like when a family is known for its bad parents, doesn’t necessarily mean the children are bad as well.
Just my two sats.
