Plotin Groyp (npub1v2m…lly4) I don't see the issue, if you have a formula e.g. b^2 - 4ac and you have a negative constant, you substitute -1(c) or implicitly -c. In either case you have a negative number.
Signed numbers also make a lot of sense in base 2, where you perform subtraction by twos complement, which is adding adding the negative of your subtractor.
