⚠️‼️ Reminder to make sure your passwords are SECURE! ⚡️
A friend recently had his Venmo hacked, and a total of $2,235 was sent out to three accounts.
Very sophisticated attack. He didn’t have money in that account, so it turns out that Venmo covers payments and puts you in the negative.
Until you pay up, your account is restricted and you end up at collections if you don’t pay.
He got a text, (supposedly from Venmo), with a ‘message from a friend’ asking if he had erroneously sent over $700 to a GoFundMe. “If yes, click this link”.
Fortunately, he did not click it and called Venmo. They had him reset his password and ask the three people to send the money back, which will bring his account back to zero.
🔥 Remind your friends and fam to make *secure* passwords and NOT to click random links.
(FYI: The Venmo rep said they would never send texts about any payments sent or received)
