32nd Seed Osaka VS 3rd Seed Holo
Sure, the second semifinal match isn’t actually over yet, but I’m 99% sure that Holo has it in the bag. Moreover, just like her staking of Seggs Vampire, this was just the kind of Statement victory that Holo needed to conceivably stand a chance in the final. Mugi is obviously a very strong opponent, universally liked on Fedi AND boasting plenty of hardcore fans, but against our Wise Wolf, the racist band girl was never able to even make the match competitive. In the end, this was a very impressive show of strength by Holo.
The question is, will it be enough? Because the girl that has already secured her place in the finals is the Miraculous Meme Maiden herself, Osaka, who has now powered up to absolutely ludicrous levels. We’re no longer talking regular Retard Strength here, but something borderline transcendent. Under normal circumstances, Senko was strong enough to win this tournament with shocking ease, with Holo’s only shot against at victory being a bizarre phenomenon called Reverse Same Fanbase Factor, which results in the normally weaker character winning a matchup by dominating the voting block shared by the two opponents (in Holo’s case, the Fluffy Tail fanbase). Senko spent 3 straight rounds looking absolutely unbeatable, and in the semifinals she scored a mind-boggling 93 votes, absolutely obliterating previous 70 votes record set by Mugi against Asuka. The only problem was that Osaka got 104 votes in that very same match…
Osaka’s powers at this point seem practically limitlessly. She reminds me a bit of Tetsuo from Akira, in terms of being this random loser who somehow becomes strong enough to destroy the whole world. Again, Senko looked set to go on the single most dominant tournament run in Fedi history, yet Osaka beat her, *comfortably*. We’ve been bearing witness to the birth of a (Meme) God, and what chance do mere mortals stand against such an entity?
There is *one* caveat I would like to add tho – this will actually be the very first match of the tournament that Osaka goes into as the Favorite. Will the loss of her signature underdog status somehow affect Osaka in unpredictable and unfortunate ways? It would in a way be a fittingly absurd end to the craziest Fedi tournament run ever.
