users use clients, to open channels with relays, two users connected with the same relay and willing to communicate with one another will be able to do so.

you can pick your clients/apps, you can pick your relays. no one can force you to use one or another. and you can run your own. permission-less.

that means that, as long as you do not give up the rights to your data (lose keys, lose data, host your data on a third party solution with no backup, etc...) if any channel is closed, you should be able to open a new one, permission-less, and re-establish your communication with whoever is willing.
