Wasabi and Samourai were started with similar goals using Zerolink and they seem to have coordinated on the idea:

Wasabi doesn't exist in the US anymore so they are "safe" for now. But Wasabi corp *also* earned fees from coinjoins, which is the governments real issue in their arrest, not the "privacy". Even if they didn't earn fees, the government still would have found another way to grab them.
Wasabi also was better in that it didn't leak your xpub to the coordinator. But it will spend coinjoined and non-coinjoined utxos together by default, unless you enable "red coin isolation". Their docs don't actually explain what it means, but this post by zmnscpxj below explains it [1].

It bothers me that hsbc launders 2 billion a day, which is the amount that samourai did in a year.

Short version: be sure to enable "red coin isolation" so that you don't spend non-coinjoined coins together in the same transaction with green (coinjoined utxo's).
The other issue is that wasabi does not leak your xpub:
