Back on the subject of OpenBSD, I think that OpenBSD does have a manpower and funding issue. The desired software that people want on that system, like wayland, OpenZFS, wine, KDE plasma, vscode and others, require massive porting efforts and tons of challenges to overcome. A lot this software is written with Linux in mind and have to be heavily patched. It would help the software ecosystem as a whole if software was written to be more OS agnostic and everyone would follow POSIX standards more rigorously.
