im almost certain that cats use the normal mammal pain moan only when theyre horny, but in contexts where theyd normallly use the pain moan they instead are silent or usethe "here" cry(nya/mya/meow), and in this use its only used by kittens and mostly for food, otherwise its mostly used for attention, on very rare occasions you will see one cat direct another cat to its location or to follow it with the "here" cry often prompted by the other with one "here" cry
