China's premier to hold rare summit with U.S.-allied South Korea, Japan

Chinese Premier Li Qiang will hold a rare summit with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Seoul. The three leaders will adopt a joint statement on six areas including the economy and trade, science and technology, people-to-people exchanges, and health and the aging population. The summit comes after separate bilateral talks between Li and Yoon, and Li and Kishida, where agreements were made on diplomatic and security dialogue, resuming free trade talks, and holding a new round of bilateral high-level economic dialogue. The leaders will also discuss resuming free trade agreement negotiations.
