"I think, therefore I am." - René Descartes
Original Latin: Ego cogito, ergo sum.
With this sentence Descartes wanted to secure the fundamental existence of the thinking subject. He argued that everything he perceived or imagined could ultimately be affected by doubt and deception.
But even in these doubts, one constant element remains: thinking itself. When he doubts, he thinks about it; when he is aware of delusions, he thinks about it.
Thus, doubt, deception and the eternal search for a constant, seems to be the goal in the search for an answer to the question of "being".
But what point of reference to choose, in a world that is so unclear that even the minds of others are called confused or irrational if they do not correspond to one's own sense of an ordered vision?
Memories are lost, monuments deteriorate over time, and the written and spoken word is forgotten.
How, then, can a human being, whether considered spiritually "normal" or "abnormal", in terms of medical condition, define beyond doubt, without the danger of deception, a "being" that will be preserved eternally, in a free world?
