For insects (or flowers) using iPhone I like that if you shoot in Portrait mode, you can Edit when reviewing to change focal length, for more or less background blur. Similarly, using my semi-proper camera if there’s opportunity (i.e. not for fantails) I shoot the subject on Program, Aperture & Auto to increase the likelihood of being happy with the result!
