A summer day at Lake Taupō; a pause in our journey to admire some of the 🌋 volcanoes of the Central Plateau. The lake itself at 357m is a supervolcanic caldera (📷1). Taupō township has views to Mt Ruapehu at 2,797m (📷2), Mts Ngāuruhoe (a.k.a. “Mt Doom” to #LotR fans) at 2,287m & Tongariro at 1,967m (📷3). With temps in the high 20s the lake offered respite for some & breeze enough for others (📷4).
