I get the appeal of libertarian arguments like this. It's nice to feel like the social world can be built upon solid universal principles. But there's a reason they are always presented as a monologue. That there's little asking of what it would mean to take this seriously in our actual lives. And finally, why the advancements of modernity derived from the questioning of Socrates and resultant compromises, instead of the proclamations of ideologues.
