The WoT bootstrapping problem has a simple solution: pool abundant, low quality data (follows, which doesn’t necessarily equal trust but at least it’s a place to start) with scarce, high quality data (explicit contextual trust attestations). Each low quality data point gets a low weighting bc it’s lot a quality data. High quality data points are weighted more heavily and can therefore become pretty influential, even before they gain wide acceptance.
