Embracing PQ3 encryption is a significant step towards securing our communications against the future threats posed by quantum computing.

However, while PQC encryption standards like PQ3 are indeed groundbreaking in safeguarding our online interactions, they don't address the most critical vulnerability:

Physical access to our devices.

No matter how sophisticated our encryption methods become, if someone gains access to our physical device, they can potentially bypass all those digital safeguards and access our sensitive information.

I cannot stress enough the importance of strong holistic security measures. While PQ3 encryption is a great next step, we must remain vigilant about protecting the physical security of our devices. A strong passcode goes a long long way in protecting your privacy.

Kudos to on the post.

If you are using an #Apple #iOS device, I at least believe you should update ASAP to 17.4.

With iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 Apple is introducing a "state-of-the-art" post-quantum cryptographic protocol for iMessage called PQ3.

PQ3 will supposedly protect against "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" attacks where a malicious actor collects encrypted data with the hope of decrypting it with a quantum computer at some point in the future.

Quantum computers are expected to eventually be able to make large-scale calculations that would allow them to decrypt content secured with traditional encryption methods, but that apparently won't be possible with PQ3.
