Here's the thing: I'm not sure Apple understands that Europeans like nothing more than a huge corporation being taken down a notch.
As the Accidental Tech Podcast (npub1f30…d2kp) folks said, this is not Texas where the public reaction would be “The government is interfering with private citizens’ right to make money.”
On the other hand, I think Apple know full well that each day they draw this out, they're making more money hand-over-fist than the EU can probably ever fine them.
