I think later generations are much more alarmist about repugnant ideas. Like, what if people actually BELIEVED something so crazy? We should DO SOMETHING and we shouldn't stop DOING SOMETHING until everyone is cool. But nothing ever gets cool. So millenials and such just get caught in this doom loop of anxiety about someone, somewhere being cool with being wrong.
