Do any UK Spinsters have experience for dealing with care/nursing homes?
My Dad has now been in a nursing home for about 5 weeks and has mostly settled in pretty well. Overall the care seems good and although he was sent there for a few weeks end of life care he has stabilised and fingers crossed will be with us for longer than predicted.
However a couple of things are infuriating Dad and the family. The most annoying is they have "lost" most of the pyjamas and other clothing we sent in with him when he was admitted. They said they would label them but clearly did not do so and now they have vanished into the laundry and there is no sign of them. I even insisted on being taken to the laundry room to search but I only found one missing shirt and one pair of PJs. It really upsets my mum when she visits and he not wearing his own clothes.
The other thing that bugs me is the lack of consistency between the staff when we visit. All of them are helpful and friendly but they don't seem to pass on all the information they should. I am seriously thinking about asking for a whiteboard in Dad's room so I can write up key information like they do in hospitals.
I have asked for a review with the manager and hopefully we can sort out some of this easily and quickly but if anyone has any tips and experience to share that would be be very helpful. Thanks.
