I'd say it depends upon how one acquired the scar. I've got some I'm proud of those are things that I've survived like violence or act of God or gained doing good honest work, others I earned through stupidity like burn marks from being careless in the kitchen or being clumsy and badly prepared when working, those are the scars that I'm decidedly not proud of.
