Maybe if you factor in the gigantic ongoing financial support for the gas industry (indirect subsidies) then the overall cost of gas becomes more apparent. Chief among these, in my view, is the way the electricity market is weighted towards gas, so whilst we have the illusion that gas is cheaper than electricity in our boilers we are paying far over the odds for electricity. The whole thing needs an overhaul and an exposure of how subsidy is buried from view
