I know you guys think the "Restrict Act" - aka TikTok ban doesn't matter if you are on Nostr. But it does, this is not about banning Tik Tok.
It is about absorbing power to the executive branch to say any website or app is "associated with a foreign adversary".
Then saying you are a "domestic terrorist aiding a foreign adversary" if you use any means to access the site or app, like a VPN and putting YOU in federal prison for up to 20 years.
If you read the act the most concerning thing is how many times the term ANY is used. Basically the president or ANY of his appointed d-bags can at ANY time, for ANY reason, name ANY source of ANY information "dangerous to American security and aiding a foreign adversary" and use ANY means to suppress it, with zero checks on this declaration or actions that result from it.
Same shit they did with "The Patriot Act" after 911. The terrorists were the excuse but the average American is the target. I mean how does you getting a 1099K from PayPal prevent hijackers from flying planes into buildings. Yes that 1099K from PayPal was part of The Patriot Act. So was requiring your bank to report you to the federal government if you rent a safe deposit box from them.
The sheer number of conservatives, republicans and MAGA types supporting this shows how effective state propaganda is. After three years of legitimately shrieking about censorship, these idiots want to give unlimited censorship and prosecution power to Brandon and every POTUS that will follow.
