Are ISPs knowingly scamming you out of money??
Was doing some shopping this morning and got stopped by an ISP rep. She asked who I used for internet (I use their service) and how much I paid to see if I had any discounts available. Seems like there were none so she told me to call customer service and tell them I’m switching providers. I’d then be transferred to customer retention and they would cut me a cheaper price to keep me as a customer.
So why isn’t my internet at a cheaper price as a standard? Why do I have to threaten leaving when they can provide the same service at a cheaper price? I was kind of surprised that a rep would even mention it. Not sure if that’s standard or she knows how much of a scam ISPs can be with pricing.
