Lot of people were broken by the covid response.

Most obvious were the normies living in an epistemic bubble of unimaginable credulity (The mRNA shot saved millions of lives! Dr. Fauci is a hero!)

Less obvious but still broken are the people who are now terrified the all-powerful state will tyrannize and dominate them. I tend toward that latter camp, but now I realize that too was a coping mechanism.

The "state” is a bunch of mostly scared idiots incentivized to do stupid and destructive things. Some are diabolical, but most are scared, and some are even doing their best to helpful even now, at least in my opinion.

The sovereign individual has a lot of power now, maybe more than at any time in history.

Our biggest enemy is not the state but our own fears.
