TIL that for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, Eugène Mercier decided to promote his champagne by presenting a gigantic 200,000-bottle champagne sculpted barrel. It was so large that 5 buildings had to be demolished to allow it to pass through the streets to the place where it was to be exhibited.
