Government bodies use outdated systems, like in person only city council meetings, to limit the number of voices actually heard in the community, making things easier to control and manipulate.
They know the whole town CANT show up in person and voice their opinion on matters at hand and they know your voices CAN be heard as a close knit community online, but refuse to listen. This is because once they actually start listening to community residents, then opposed to doing what they want, they have to actually work and do their job.
It's much easier to lobby a few friends in town to come speak , basically on your behalf to the panel, while being labeled as "the communities voice".
